BUZZHOCKEY 2010 SUMMER 3 V 3 AND 4 V 4 LEAGUES

3 V 3 & 4 v 4 cross ice games are the ideal environment for players to improve. Players touch the puck more, develop their skating in tight areas, and have more shooting and scoring opportunities.

BUZZHOCKEY Leagues provide a “pond hockey” environment for skaters in a competitive and fun environment. All games are played cross-ice. There are no time outs, off sides, icing and no checking. The fast pace allows players to develop faster. Space limitations require players to move faster, react quicker, pass the puck often and learn how to support the play.

Skaters can register as an individual player, or we accept teams already assembled.

League Information

  • All games will be played at the Plymouth Ice Center
  • Locker room assignments will be posted on the TV screen in the arena
  • Players are required to skate in full gear, including mouth guards
  • Each player will be provided with a team jersey
  • Players should register based on the level they will be playing in the upcoming hockey season.
  • Small rosters with a minimum of 9 and up to 12 players on each team with 1 goalie. (You may roster more players than the recommended number, but keep in mind that you want the players to be constantly in the game with minimal rest time.
  • Only 3 skaters at a time for each team on the ice. This format opens up the play and the skater is always handling the puck while stick-handling, passing, shooting, scoring or clearing the zone.
  • There will be a 5 minute warm-up at the start of each ice time.
  • The players change on the fly which creates the transition speed from the blue line to the playing area. When performed correctly, the shifts are at a high intensity skate, developing the skaters conditioning.
  • There are no off-sides, no icing, no whistles to stop the continuous flow of the play. As a goal is scored, you pull the puck out of the net and head-man it up as quickly as you can, attacking your opponents.
  • There is no checking allowed! The object is to develop the player’s technical skills. Any checking will result in a 30 second penalty, causing that team to have to play short-handed.
  • Because of the wide open play, goalies will be facing a continuous barrage of varied shots.
  • Coaches will be on the ice, lined up on the blue line with the players who are resting. They are there to help direct the strategies of quick breakouts, head-manning the puck, transitions and overseeing several other game situations. As the season advances, coaches will encourage the players to develop their own communication and leadership skills.
  • There will be a variety of small area games played during the summer that focuses on different parts of the game. These games could vary from 2-on 2 in a tight area to 3-on-3 cross ice to even 4-on-4 cross ice or 4-on-4 with one goalie and the coach being a common man for both teams. While there will be variety, most of the games will be 3-on-3. We will also play some games with odd numbers so players can learn the fundamentals of what to do in the various situations that arise in games.
